When everything changed, Joe turned heartbreak into hope.
After losing his son Logan, who was born with cerebral palsy, Joe founded Logan’s Heart & Smiles — a nonprofit dedicated to helping children with disabilities live safely and comfortably at home.
Since 2002, Joe and his team have built over 250 ramps, fences, and home modifications across Wisconsin — proving that love can truly build anything. ❤️
🎙️ Watch Joe’s inspiring WHEN Story — a powerful reminder that even through loss, purpose can rise.
Joe Herr | Founder, Logan’s Heart & Smiles
Joe Herr is the heart and soul behind Logan’s Heart and Smiles, a Wisconsin-based nonprofit dedicated to improving homes and inspiring hope for children with disabilities.
When Joe’s son, Logan, was born with cerebral palsy, he knew there was a purpose behind the challenges they faced—he just didn’t know what it was yet. That purpose revealed itself when Logan received his first wheelchair, and Joe discovered there were no funding sources or organizations focused on building ramps for children like his son. Using his own money and construction skills, he built a simple ramp so Logan could safely get in and out of their home.
After Logan passed away, Joe understood why their journey mattered: it was meant to help others. Within six months of Logan’s death, he built his first ramp for another family—and Logan’s Heart and Smiles was born. “Heart” because Logan had one bigger than his body, and “Smiles” because his joy could light up any room.
Since its founding in 2002, Joe’s organization has helped more than 250 children across Wisconsin through ramps, fences, handrails, bathroom adaptations, and other accessibility modifications—each project built with love, compassion, and community spirit.
In 2024, Joe became full-time paid staff as the organization continues to expand its reach and impact. Guided by the belief that every child deserves safety, dignity, and independence, Joe has built far more than ramps—he’s built a legacy of kindness, resilience, and hope that continues to change lives every day.
Joe is a true beacon of love and compassion, proving that even through loss, purpose can rise—and that when hearts unite, smiles last forever.
