A single page can change the pace of your life. When educator Tonya L. White lost her home to an electrical fire, she rebuilt her days with a guided journaling practice that turned chaos into calm and busy into intentional. We sit down to unpack how a simple, undated daily layout—priorities, affirmation, gratitude, notes, and a self-rating—helps reduce anxiety, track progress, and create momentum you can feel.

Tonya shares how gifting her journal to a teaching fellow's director sparked campus workshops for overwhelmed freshmen who were struggling with deadlines, transitions, and mental load. You’ll hear why paper beats apps for reflection, how visual checklists reinforce motivation, and what it takes to build a supportive circle that keeps you accountable without shame. We explore collaboration as a growth engine—from publishers who helped refine the layout to community partners bringing journaling to women’s groups, mental health centers, and reading circles.

If you’re a student finding your footing, a busy parent juggling too much, or a creator turning pain into purpose, this conversation gives you tools you can use today. We talk practical routines like Sunday planning, five-minute morning pages, and lightweight group check-ins that transform good intentions into steady habits. Tonya also previews what’s next: a 90-day reset journal for quick momentum and a teen-focused edition that helps young people put words to big feelings.

White, a special education teacher, turned author and creative entrepreneur.

00:00:48.479 --> 00:00:52.240
Tanya is a creator of the guiding journal and Suddenly Life Got Busy.

00:00:52.320 --> 00:00:54.159
Oh Lord, I know that's right.

00:00:55.920 --> 00:00:59.679
It's designed to inspire productivity, reflection, and balance.

00:00:59.920 --> 00:01:09.760
She beautifully blends her background in education with a passion for mental wellness to build a purpose-driven journaling brand that helps individuals pause, reflect, and thrive.

00:01:10.000 --> 00:01:12.959
You can find her work at suddenlylifebusy.com.

00:01:13.120 --> 00:01:18.400
I'm so excited to dive into a conversation about the power of journaling for wellness, focus, and purpose.

00:01:18.560 --> 00:01:19.519
Let's get started.

00:01:19.680 --> 00:01:22.879
Welcome, Tanya, to the Ready Set Collaborate Podcast.

00:01:23.040 --> 00:01:24.560
I appreciate you coming on.

00:01:25.760 --> 00:01:26.959
Thank you for having me.

00:01:27.200 --> 00:01:28.159
Oh, absolutely.

00:01:28.239 --> 00:01:29.519
I was gonna say hi to the audience.

00:01:29.760 --> 00:01:30.959
You already said hello to the audience.

00:01:31.120 --> 00:01:31.680
It's really great.

00:01:31.760 --> 00:01:37.200
And I'm very excited to hear about your journal, your journal as far as what you're doing here.

00:01:37.280 --> 00:01:48.400
Because I was just telling you about how I was journaling, not knowing that actually helped me to relieve, like you said, mental stress, to relieve any kind of anxiety, aggravation, or whatever I'm going through stress.

00:01:48.640 --> 00:01:50.959
It's a blessing of what you're doing here.

00:01:51.120 --> 00:01:53.680
And also, I'm gonna read your bio.

00:01:53.760 --> 00:02:00.239
And then we can talk about that because actually, what you do is for a special education is just I was just saying, how do you have patience for that?

00:02:00.480 --> 00:02:02.239
But God gives you patience, right?

00:02:02.560 --> 00:02:03.040
Yes.

00:02:03.280 --> 00:02:04.959
All right, so let me read your bio.

00:02:05.280 --> 00:02:09.439
Tanya White is a special education teacher, turned author, and created entrepreneur.

00:02:09.599 --> 00:02:15.919
She created the guided journey and suddenly life got busy to inspire productivity, reflection, and balance.

00:02:16.159 --> 00:02:24.240
Tanya blends her educational experience with her passion for mental wellness to build a blend to build a brand centered on purpose-driven journaling.

00:02:24.400 --> 00:02:31.759
She has shared her expertise as a presenter at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and is a member of the North Carolina Reading Association.

00:02:32.000 --> 00:02:37.599
Her goal is to help others transform their creativity and self-discovery into sustainable success.

00:02:37.840 --> 00:02:41.919
Learn more about her work and resources at SuddenlyLifeBusy.com.

00:02:42.080 --> 00:02:43.120
I'm getting tongue-tied here.

00:02:43.360 --> 00:02:46.960
They're definitely welcome to the podcast because we really need to hear about this, Tanya.

00:02:47.120 --> 00:03:00.319
And I just asked her what God has blessed you to do and also what you're going to be doing, because He also gives you a position to get an opportunity into the colleges to help the college students to help them with their journaling.

00:03:00.479 --> 00:03:03.520
Tell us a little bit about that before we dive into some questions here.

00:03:04.479 --> 00:03:12.240
Okay, I recently graduated from University of North Carolina at Pembroke with my master's degree in special education.

00:03:12.560 --> 00:03:18.960
And one of the teaching fellows directors invited me to come and speak to the freshman.

00:03:19.199 --> 00:03:24.080
And she first I went to gift her my journal.

00:03:24.240 --> 00:03:26.879
And she just held it up and she started smiling.

00:03:27.039 --> 00:03:34.560
And before I could leave, she booked me to come back to speak to college students about journaling.

00:03:34.719 --> 00:03:36.080
She says, This is great.

00:03:36.240 --> 00:03:46.240
They had just had a networking event about what they could do for freshmen because some of them, it's their first time away from home, get a little overwhelmed.

00:03:46.479 --> 00:03:52.400
They're not used to a teacher keeping them in line with assignments and do this, do that.

00:03:52.560 --> 00:03:57.439
The transition to college life, for some, it becomes a little overwhelming.

00:03:57.680 --> 00:04:08.240
But she thought it was a perfect idea to have me to come back and speak with them and just give them some tips, which I created a workshop, a journaling workshop.

00:04:08.479 --> 00:04:10.159
It's like all coming together.

00:04:10.319 --> 00:04:12.800
I never even thought that I would be doing any of that.

00:04:12.960 --> 00:04:24.399
Now that I've done it, I'm going to create more workshops and try to get journaling out there because people don't know that they're journaling or how much journaling can help them.

00:04:24.639 --> 00:04:26.079
That's awesome because you're so right.

00:04:26.240 --> 00:04:31.680
When they go to college, like what I'm doing, I mentor at the middle schools, the middle school girls from sixth to eighth grade.

00:04:31.839 --> 00:04:36.639
And the next step, and we're trying to get into the high school now because that's the freshmen in high school.

00:04:36.800 --> 00:04:48.319
When you're leaving one group of education and they don't know what to do, they're like, in fact, the first one then, like the freshmen in high school, freshmen in college, they're the ones that are being picked on.

00:04:48.720 --> 00:04:53.839
Help journaling, I think that actually helps show their creativity, actually getting it whatever's on their mind.

00:04:54.000 --> 00:04:59.040
And that actually can help with uh with mental illness, mental wellness as well.

00:04:59.439 --> 00:05:01.040
Yeah, yeah.

00:05:01.199 --> 00:05:03.600
I it's just amazing what you're doing, and what a blessing.

00:05:03.759 --> 00:05:05.600
See, God put you in the right place at the right time.

00:05:05.680 --> 00:05:07.920
And I see at the right time.

00:05:08.319 --> 00:05:09.040
Yes, yes.

00:05:09.199 --> 00:05:12.480
I can see you doing it at other colleges, not just North Carolina.

00:05:12.639 --> 00:05:14.639
And what part of North Carolina are you?

00:05:15.120 --> 00:05:19.680
I'm from the Southeast North Carolina, near the North Carolina, South Carolina beaches.

00:05:20.160 --> 00:05:25.519
Okay, okay, because I think I was just well, we were just babysitting in Morrisville, North Carolina, Charlotte.

00:05:25.759 --> 00:05:26.720
Wow, that's amazing.

00:05:26.879 --> 00:05:28.800
Let's dive into some of these questions here.

00:05:29.040 --> 00:05:34.560
Can you share your journey from being a special education teacher to becoming an author and creative entrepreneur?

00:05:35.199 --> 00:05:38.079
Okay, yes, I am a special education teacher.

00:05:38.319 --> 00:05:44.160
And two weeks before school started, two years ago, I lost my home to an electrical fire.

00:05:44.399 --> 00:05:50.399
I was on my way to a part-time job that I worked on the weekends, also in mental health.

00:05:50.639 --> 00:05:53.920
I work with elderly that have mental issues.

00:05:54.240 --> 00:05:59.759
I had just left home and I got a phone call from my sister, and she said, Your house is on fire.

00:05:59.920 --> 00:06:01.199
I actually hung up the phone.

00:06:01.360 --> 00:06:04.879
I said, I don't know why she's pranking me too early in the morning for this.

00:06:05.040 --> 00:06:06.160
I just got to work.

00:06:06.319 --> 00:06:09.439
And then she called back and she said, No, your house is on fire.

00:06:09.600 --> 00:06:11.759
I already called the fire truck, but you need to come home.

00:06:11.920 --> 00:06:15.920
I came home and it hadn't even been 30 minutes in my home.

00:06:16.079 --> 00:06:17.439
It I lost everything.

00:06:17.680 --> 00:06:21.439
Literally walked out with the clothes on my back that day.

00:06:21.759 --> 00:06:23.040
Fast forward a little bit.

00:06:23.120 --> 00:06:24.720
I went back to work.

00:06:24.959 --> 00:06:31.360
I'm still working at that point as a special education teacher, still doing the part-time job on the weekend.

00:06:31.680 --> 00:06:34.560
And it's like my mind had to stay busy.

00:06:34.639 --> 00:06:35.759
I didn't know how to slow down.

00:06:35.839 --> 00:06:37.839
I was just on autopilot.

00:06:38.560 --> 00:06:45.040
And around December, because that fire happened in August, December, we had some snow days.

00:06:45.439 --> 00:06:58.879
And I was sitting there and I was thinking, what can I do to help someone that may need the same type of release, just a space where they can let everything go and not be judged.

00:06:59.040 --> 00:07:01.759
That was my comfort for me to journal.

00:07:01.839 --> 00:07:14.480
I can write because when you're going through any type of trauma, yes, you have your support with family and close friends, but sometimes you feel like you're burdening them because you're still going through it.

00:07:14.560 --> 00:07:17.680
It's still on your mind, and you still want to talk about it.

00:07:17.759 --> 00:07:22.480
But maybe in my mind, I was just like, they're tired of hearing me talk about this.

00:07:22.639 --> 00:07:25.360
I just started writing and it helped me so much.

00:07:25.519 --> 00:07:29.519
It helped me calm down, it helped with my anxiety.

00:07:29.839 --> 00:07:40.720
I was able to sleep because when you're so full of everything and you can't get it out, it's like your mind is just still going and going, and then you just never slow down.

00:07:40.879 --> 00:07:48.720
I went through that and I said, now that I've done it and now I'm here, at that point, I was getting ready to close on my new home.

00:07:48.959 --> 00:07:58.480
And I said, I should do something because someone else may need this exact same thing because it worked for me, it could work for someone else.

00:07:58.720 --> 00:07:59.759
That's awesome.

00:07:59.920 --> 00:08:04.319
And that's when you inspired you to create the and suddenly life got busy.

00:08:04.480 --> 00:08:06.160
Is that when you started writing that?

00:08:06.560 --> 00:08:07.199
You created it.

00:08:07.279 --> 00:08:08.879
And that's when I started to do it.

00:08:09.040 --> 00:08:10.319
I did it on the space.

00:08:10.720 --> 00:08:16.959
I was home, not home, at my mom's house because I moved in with her temporarily until everything was ready.

00:08:17.199 --> 00:08:22.000
And the title, and suddenly life got busy because my life was so busy at that moment.

00:08:22.079 --> 00:08:25.519
So I just said, you know what, this is going to be the title, and that was the end of that.

00:08:25.759 --> 00:08:27.920
I love it because it really makes sense.

00:08:28.160 --> 00:08:29.360
And suddenly get busy.

00:08:29.600 --> 00:08:30.240
You just never know.

00:08:30.399 --> 00:08:37.039
And then and how God puts you into that space, unfortunately, with the fire at the house, but also to make you think about that.

00:08:37.120 --> 00:08:39.600
And also to be you becoming an author, right?

00:08:39.759 --> 00:08:40.559
That's a blessing.

00:08:40.639 --> 00:08:41.679
That's a blessing right there.

00:08:41.840 --> 00:08:45.840
Why is journalists such a powerful tune in today's fast-paced world?

00:08:46.159 --> 00:08:52.720
Well, I think it's special because people are just going and never slowing down.

00:08:52.799 --> 00:08:54.320
They don't know how to slow down.

00:08:54.480 --> 00:08:54.639
Yeah.

00:08:54.960 --> 00:09:05.440
And it helps them to navigate through challenges that they may be having and going through, reflecting, and sometimes sitting down writing, it all comes together.

00:09:05.679 --> 00:09:10.559
Now everyone is more tuned into social media and electronics.

00:09:10.720 --> 00:09:33.919
But for me, when I actually sat down and wrote it and saw it in paper, and then I could have my checklist and I could just go and check things off or cross it out, it made me see, okay, you are making progress because when I'm just doing things on social media or getting electrical or whatever, it just didn't seem like anything was happening.

00:09:34.000 --> 00:09:43.440
But when I wrote the steps or put everything down and then had that checklist, it just made me feel so much better because I could see my progress.

00:09:44.159 --> 00:09:56.720
And also I could see if there were other things that I needed to add or take away, or if I put a time frame of when I wanted to do something, I could modify that.

00:09:57.440 --> 00:09:58.240
That's awesome.

00:09:58.399 --> 00:09:58.799
I love it.

00:09:58.879 --> 00:09:59.279
I love it.

00:09:59.519 --> 00:10:04.480
Tell us a more about your journal, how it's designed to help people pause, reflect, and find balance.

00:10:05.279 --> 00:10:08.799
Okay, so in the journal, it's a page for every day.

00:10:08.879 --> 00:10:12.559
So it's 365 pages for the year.

00:10:12.720 --> 00:10:18.159
Each page has a priority task list that you can actually put your task.

00:10:18.399 --> 00:10:26.320
It has an affirmation, it has a section that you can put what you're grateful for, task of the day, and then notes.

00:10:26.399 --> 00:10:28.720
It is even has a section at the bottom.

00:10:28.960 --> 00:10:32.720
You can rate yourself of how productive you think you were for that day.

00:10:32.879 --> 00:10:34.559
I thought that was really cute.

00:10:34.799 --> 00:10:38.879
Um, I purposely did not date the pages.

00:10:39.120 --> 00:10:53.279
So you'll see a section at the top to you can manually put the date in the day because I thought, okay, if someone buys this, I don't want it to be like a calendar and they have to start on it right away because if they don't use it, then it's not going to be any good.

00:10:53.519 --> 00:11:05.919
With me not dating it, they can start at any time because sometimes I know in the past I've ordered something that I intended on using and I threw it to the side and didn't start with this journal.

00:11:06.000 --> 00:11:11.120
They can start at any time during the year, and it's going to just roll over until the next year of that same time.

00:11:11.200 --> 00:11:12.639
That way it'll be helpful.

00:11:12.879 --> 00:11:14.000
I love it because you're right.

00:11:14.080 --> 00:11:20.399
I got mag, I got magazine, I got calendars that's oh my god, I never wrote in 2024 or 2025.

00:11:20.639 --> 00:11:22.639
I'm still trying to catch up with 2025.

00:11:22.720 --> 00:11:25.600
Yeah, but no, I love that you do that because you didn't date it.

00:11:25.679 --> 00:11:28.799
And like you said, you can start whenever you want to start here with this.

00:11:28.879 --> 00:11:29.440
That's awesome.

00:11:29.600 --> 00:11:36.320
How did collaboration, whether with mentors, colleagues, or creative partners role in bringing your journey to life, journal to life?

00:11:37.039 --> 00:11:44.799
Flaboration was a really big key because it let me see that I don't have to do everything alone.

00:11:44.960 --> 00:11:51.919
There are resources or people that you can collaborate and network with to make the process a little easier.

00:11:52.159 --> 00:12:06.720
And if I thought about it, didn't even intend for the collaboration with my teaching fellows director, but going there, letting her giving her just gifting her a journal gave me the idea.

00:12:06.879 --> 00:12:08.480
She just planted the seed.

00:12:08.720 --> 00:12:15.840
This is what she put, she created the date and everything, didn't ask, and I was like, okay, what's happening here?

00:12:16.240 --> 00:12:16.879
Yeah.

00:12:17.279 --> 00:12:22.799
Now workshopping, that's something else that I can do stemming from my journal.

00:12:24.159 --> 00:12:36.399
I love it because you like I said, and that really, and that's my next question about what lessons about teamwork and collaboration have you learned through your work and education that also apply to your writing and publishing journey.

00:12:36.559 --> 00:12:37.679
How did that work?

00:12:38.000 --> 00:12:45.519
With me, teamwork, it requires a lot of trust because you're putting, giving your ideas and your thoughts to someone.

00:12:45.679 --> 00:12:57.360
It requires trust, communication, and of course, flexibility because everyone may not be available at the same time or not able to meet in person.

00:12:57.600 --> 00:13:01.840
Now we can meet online and do virtual meetings and things like that.

00:13:02.000 --> 00:13:06.080
So I try to call that into consideration, being flexible.

00:13:06.320 --> 00:13:07.919
I love doing virtual meetings.

00:13:08.080 --> 00:13:10.639
Sometimes you may have someone that wants to only meet in person.

00:13:10.720 --> 00:13:12.320
So you have to be flexible with that.

00:13:12.559 --> 00:13:12.879
Yeah.

00:13:13.039 --> 00:13:17.759
And that's true because when COVID happened, we had to do virtual.

00:13:17.919 --> 00:13:35.039
And that's really when I created my my brand, because I do services in Legal Shield is with WD Pearson Associates and helping people who wanted to start a business and get the LLCs, that's when I actually thrived because people were getting laid off from their jobs, and you just never know.

00:13:35.200 --> 00:13:35.600
It's good.

00:13:35.679 --> 00:13:38.080
And I said, What would we do without Zoom, Tanya?

00:13:38.240 --> 00:13:40.159
We're gonna I should have bought some stock in Zoom.

00:13:40.240 --> 00:13:41.120
That's what I should have done.

00:13:43.840 --> 00:13:46.080
No, it really gives us another alternative.

00:13:46.320 --> 00:13:52.960
Alternative not just to be in person, but also to meet online and really do the same thing as far as having that conversation.

00:13:53.120 --> 00:13:56.720
And I really love it how you gaped the team, and you're right about trust.

00:13:56.879 --> 00:13:58.960
You got to trust the person that you're giving your project to.

00:13:59.120 --> 00:14:00.080
That really makes a difference there.

00:14:00.320 --> 00:14:01.600
What about when you created your journal?

00:14:01.759 --> 00:14:05.360
Did you have a support network or community that helped guide your process?

00:14:05.519 --> 00:14:07.120
And I think we were just talking about that.

00:14:07.279 --> 00:14:11.919
And how did that collaboration impact the final product when you finally got it done?

00:14:12.240 --> 00:14:12.559
Okay.

00:14:12.720 --> 00:14:16.960
At first I did not, but I reached out to a publisher.

00:14:17.039 --> 00:14:22.960
And actually, this publisher create was the publisher of a lot of school books, McGillion.

00:14:23.279 --> 00:14:25.840
I looked at the name, I'm like, where do I know this name from?

00:14:26.000 --> 00:14:28.799
And then it's our older school textbook.

00:14:28.960 --> 00:14:29.200
Yes.

00:14:29.279 --> 00:14:34.399
So they reached out to me and they said, okay, what kind of type of project do you want?

00:14:34.720 --> 00:14:41.679
They helped me create the layout and all of that because I'm not that tech savvy yet to just put it together.

00:14:42.000 --> 00:14:44.799
They were very helpful in getting that done.

00:14:45.039 --> 00:14:53.919
Afterwards, I could say collaborating with others that would help with like mental health and pausing and reflecting.

00:14:54.159 --> 00:14:57.200
We can maybe do events together and things like that.

00:14:57.279 --> 00:15:01.279
So I'm looking forward to getting some of those things on the book as well.

00:15:01.600 --> 00:15:02.399
Yeah, yeah.

00:15:02.559 --> 00:15:08.159
Tell us about how you were able to go to the college and now they want you to come and help with the freshman.

00:15:08.720 --> 00:15:24.879
Well, being that I was a recent graduate, even though I'm older, but I could relate to what they're going through with the timelines and getting those assignments in and making sure that you didn't miss those deadlines because those are very important points that you miss.

00:15:25.200 --> 00:15:26.320
It all worked out.

00:15:26.559 --> 00:15:35.039
The group that I had, they loved it because they didn't know about organizing and getting their things ready because it was their first year.

00:15:35.200 --> 00:15:36.639
That part, it really helped them.

00:15:36.720 --> 00:15:44.000
And I actually took some cheeks and helped them work through their first week of assignments and they loved it.

00:15:44.159 --> 00:15:47.679
Hopefully, you know, they'll continue to use it throughout the semester.

00:15:47.759 --> 00:15:54.399
But I'm looking forward to going back for the next semester and speak to the newer students that are coming in.

00:15:54.960 --> 00:15:55.679
That's awesome.

00:15:55.840 --> 00:15:58.559
I wish you were around when my daughters were going to college.

00:15:59.039 --> 00:16:03.679
I was one, I was especially my older, I was the one with encouraging her going on the back office.

00:16:03.919 --> 00:16:05.919
Okay, you got to get this assignment done, you got to do this here.

00:16:06.000 --> 00:16:10.399
Yeah, no, that that this is really something, and this is unheard of as far as what you're doing here.

00:16:10.639 --> 00:16:17.600
You have really pivoted to something that can really be used, not only in colleges, but in high schools.

00:16:17.840 --> 00:16:18.240
Yes.

00:16:18.480 --> 00:16:23.120
Wherever you go, you should be able to use this because it's just something that um that this is great.

00:16:23.440 --> 00:16:24.480
When did your book come out?

00:16:24.559 --> 00:16:26.480
And I would like to get a copy of that too.

00:16:26.720 --> 00:16:28.000
I'm sorry, when did your journal come out?

00:16:28.639 --> 00:16:29.759
June 3rd of this year.

00:16:29.919 --> 00:16:31.120
It's fairly new.

00:16:31.440 --> 00:16:33.200
Okay, congratulations.

00:16:33.279 --> 00:16:34.000
That's awesome.

00:16:34.159 --> 00:16:34.879
That is awesome.

00:16:35.039 --> 00:16:37.600
And we both were with the author all-stars, right?

00:16:37.759 --> 00:16:43.360
Yes, we actually that that's how I met Tanya through the author all-star and I mean being on the media, be the podcaster.

00:16:43.600 --> 00:16:48.960
I am so happy that you came here because this is definitely something different that I love talking to you about.

00:16:49.120 --> 00:16:53.600
How can parents, teachers, or community leaders use journalist to support youth and adults alike?

00:16:53.679 --> 00:16:55.759
It's not just the youth, but adults as well.

00:16:56.080 --> 00:17:07.440
Adults, I actually started reaching out to like mental health centers, women's groups, reading circles, and things like that, get it out, get the word out about my journal.

00:17:07.759 --> 00:17:11.920
Going to be doing a workshop, I think, next month.

00:17:12.400 --> 00:17:28.799
And some busy moms that wanted to get together and do a journal and workshop because sometimes when you're in the mom role, you play the mom, you have a job, and then you got to keep up if your children are in sports and all these other extracurricular activities.

00:17:28.880 --> 00:17:30.640
It's a lot to keep together sometimes.

00:17:30.720 --> 00:17:33.279
So I'm looking forward to doing that as well.

00:17:34.079 --> 00:17:34.720
That's awesome.

00:17:34.799 --> 00:17:36.319
And I was actually gonna ask you the next question.

00:17:36.400 --> 00:17:42.960
In your experience, how can journaling help teams, educators, and creative partners communicate and connect better?

00:17:43.200 --> 00:17:45.440
And like you were saying, your journal is gonna help that.

00:17:45.519 --> 00:17:48.720
And by you doing workshops, that's great in getting it out there.

00:17:48.960 --> 00:17:57.920
Even like on the with a call, next door neighbor, I think they have, I don't know if they have there in North Carolina, letting people know that you have this journaling, this vehicle to help with that.

00:17:58.160 --> 00:17:59.119
That's awesome.

00:17:59.440 --> 00:18:02.079
Many people struggle to find time for reflection.

00:18:02.480 --> 00:18:07.920
How can journaling and collaboration work together to support accountability and growth?

00:18:08.240 --> 00:18:21.599
A lot of people ask me how to journal, getting into the question you just asked, and my answer to them is never a really set-in-stone perfect time to journal.

00:18:21.680 --> 00:18:24.400
For me, it just depends on when I can fit it in.

00:18:24.559 --> 00:18:34.400
If I know I'm up early and I have some spare time in the morning, I may write before I go to work or in the afternoon.

00:18:34.720 --> 00:18:43.839
Majority of the time, I do more the most of my planning happens on Sunday because that's just the time where everybody takes to relax and prepare for the week.

00:18:44.000 --> 00:18:53.279
I do the most of it on Sunday afternoon to prepare for the week so I can get a forecast of what my week is going to look like and try to plan ahead.

00:18:53.680 --> 00:18:56.960
Second part of your question was collaborating.

00:18:57.359 --> 00:19:02.720
Yeah, collaboration and work together to support accountability and growth, like growing.

00:19:04.000 --> 00:19:05.920
Collaborating and growth.

00:19:06.240 --> 00:19:12.160
If you have a circle or group, you can hold each other accountable.

00:19:12.319 --> 00:19:22.240
Like my friends, we have a group text and we ask each other questions and collaborate within that circle just to keep each other on track.

00:19:22.640 --> 00:19:23.200
That's good.

00:19:23.279 --> 00:19:26.160
And accountability, like having an accountability partner to make sure.

00:19:26.400 --> 00:19:27.039
No, that's great.

00:19:27.359 --> 00:19:32.079
Can you share a powerful story of someone who's experienced transformation through your journaling?

00:19:33.359 --> 00:19:34.559
You probably got many, right?

00:19:34.880 --> 00:19:37.680
So far, I've gotten feedback.

00:19:37.920 --> 00:19:44.079
Some people said they never knew that they needed to journal until they bought my journal.

00:19:44.480 --> 00:19:56.799
And how it really helped them to put things in perspective because they got a clearer picture when they wrote it out, just not to give specific names, but that overall that's the feedback that I'm getting.

00:19:56.960 --> 00:20:04.000
That this is something they didn't know they needed until they got it and they saw it and it was like, oh, this is what I need to be doing.

00:20:04.240 --> 00:20:07.920
Yeah, and I was telling you before, I was I didn't know that was journaling.

00:20:08.000 --> 00:20:20.480
I was just writing down my thoughts and realizing that actually what helped me write my first book because when a young lady, one of my clients, she said, Wanda God told me to call you and be part of the book that we actually first wrote was Audacity to Shine.

00:20:20.640 --> 00:20:30.799
And I just told my girlfriend, I said, I'm never writing a book, but I didn't know what the journaling that I was doing was helping me to get out the frustration, the anger of the abuse that I went through.

00:20:30.960 --> 00:20:37.279
And then even like marriage, you write down stuff that you frustrate, you don't want to say it to the person, but you write it down.

00:20:37.440 --> 00:20:40.799
That helps, that helps to release that at the same time.

00:20:40.960 --> 00:20:45.279
It's it's awesome that you're doing this because I don't know anybody that has done this before.

00:20:45.519 --> 00:20:48.079
And being out there, and I know you're gonna be successful.

00:20:48.160 --> 00:20:50.160
I know God's gonna be putting you into different places.

00:20:50.319 --> 00:20:57.759
Like I said, his college is gonna be high schools, adults, women's groups, all of those, because it really is needed.

00:20:57.920 --> 00:21:02.720
We really need it because that way we're not holding things inside, we're stressing ourselves.

00:21:02.880 --> 00:21:03.920
No, I I I love that.

00:21:04.079 --> 00:21:04.559
I love that.

00:21:04.880 --> 00:21:11.200
Now, can you share a specific moment when collaboration made a meaningful difference in your journey, either as a teacher or as an author?

00:21:11.279 --> 00:21:12.319
Because now you're an author.

00:21:12.480 --> 00:21:13.440
So now you're a teacher.

00:21:13.519 --> 00:21:15.119
You've been a teacher for how many years?

00:21:15.359 --> 00:21:16.720
This is year five.

00:21:17.039 --> 00:21:26.240
Collaboration, I think that day that I actually sat down with my teaching fellows director, and the workshop and all of this came together.

00:21:26.400 --> 00:21:34.559
I think that was the most powerful moment for me because, like I said, I wrote the journal and I had no clue of what I was going to do next.

00:21:34.799 --> 00:21:37.599
And then she suggested that.

00:21:37.759 --> 00:21:44.640
And then after that, joining the Book Prophets Club, I have gotten a lot of gems from there.

00:21:44.960 --> 00:21:57.519
And meeting you, coming onto your podcast because I know I need to get out and get on stages so people know who Daniel White is and what this journal is all about.

00:21:57.920 --> 00:21:58.400
Mm-hmm.

00:21:58.880 --> 00:21:59.680
That's awesome.

00:21:59.839 --> 00:22:00.079
Yeah.

00:22:00.559 --> 00:22:02.160
Like I said, we don't know who we're gonna meet.

00:22:02.240 --> 00:22:04.559
We don't know who God puts us, but it's a season, right?

00:22:04.720 --> 00:22:08.400
It's a season that we meet, not one, not wondering how did I meet this person?

00:22:08.480 --> 00:22:09.680
And how did you get out there?

00:22:09.759 --> 00:22:10.880
But no, that that's awesome.

00:22:11.039 --> 00:22:14.240
I really admire what you're doing here because, like I said, it's very much needed.

00:22:14.480 --> 00:22:19.759
What advice would you give to aspiring authors or creators who want to turn their passion into a purpose-driven work?

00:22:19.920 --> 00:22:21.119
What you're doing with your journal?

00:22:21.279 --> 00:22:22.400
What advice would you give them?

00:22:22.799 --> 00:22:23.279
Start.

00:22:23.440 --> 00:22:24.880
Don't wait, just start.

00:22:25.039 --> 00:22:33.440
Sometimes we don't even have a plan for what we're gonna do, but until we start something, nothing's gonna happen.

00:22:34.000 --> 00:22:53.039
I was home on a snow day, and I just started writing, scrolling on social, I'm not social media on the internet, and I just came up and said, you know what, I'm gonna do a journal because I kept what can I do to help people that may have gone through the same thing that I've gone through, and it just went from there.

00:22:53.200 --> 00:22:55.599
But you have to start, do it scared.

00:22:55.759 --> 00:22:58.720
I was I had no clue what I was doing, but I did it.

00:22:58.880 --> 00:23:10.400
I would just say, just start, and everything else started to fall in place, exactly, and God has a plan for all of us, and we don't know when the time or place, or it's never a good time.

00:23:10.559 --> 00:23:16.799
Just having that idea, it starts with an idea and just doing it and just start writing.

00:23:16.880 --> 00:23:17.920
It really makes a big difference.

00:23:18.000 --> 00:23:21.440
Just like with when I wrote my book, I didn't know the two collaboration books.

00:23:21.599 --> 00:23:31.759
Then I wrote my own book, and I tell you, it took a while for me to do it, but when I did it, my my editor then she said, Wanda, you need to get this book out here because people need to hear it.

00:23:32.319 --> 00:23:36.000
And I didn't know so many people going through similar situations that we go through.

00:23:36.160 --> 00:23:42.400
But by you journaling and helping and starting people, that's a starting, that's a starting point of writing.

00:23:42.640 --> 00:23:43.440
Journaling, right?

00:23:43.920 --> 00:23:48.559
Yes, yeah, it really is a starting point, just helping um you get started.

00:23:48.640 --> 00:23:52.240
And I have a lot of people when I wrote Wanda, I've always wanted to write a book.

00:23:52.319 --> 00:23:54.400
It's been like 20 years I've been wanting to write a book.

00:23:54.559 --> 00:23:56.799
Like my cousin, she's she loves books.

00:23:57.039 --> 00:23:58.559
When are you gonna write your own book?

00:23:59.039 --> 00:24:00.160
You got a story.

00:24:00.480 --> 00:24:00.799
Yes.

00:24:01.039 --> 00:24:05.920
I have a fellow teacher um that bought my journal, and she said, you know what?

00:24:06.079 --> 00:24:09.599
I sat down and she said, I want to write children's books.

00:24:09.759 --> 00:24:11.920
I said, start, just start.

00:24:12.079 --> 00:24:13.759
I said it does not have to be perfect.

00:24:13.839 --> 00:24:16.880
You can edit and do everything later, but just start.

00:24:17.119 --> 00:24:17.839
Yeah, exactly.

00:24:18.000 --> 00:24:24.400
How many new, how many vehicles that you can actually start with if even like ideas, and it's just getting out there and doing this.

00:24:24.480 --> 00:24:26.400
But I am proud of you that you did.

00:24:26.480 --> 00:24:28.160
You started and you're doing something like this.

00:24:28.240 --> 00:24:33.440
And I appreciate you coming on the podcast because this is something different.

00:24:33.839 --> 00:24:37.680
Yeah, it really starts with journaling with us writing our books, what you're doing there.

00:24:37.920 --> 00:24:40.319
It gives you an outward of what you want to do.

00:24:40.559 --> 00:24:42.640
Yeah, is that an outline, exactly?

00:24:42.720 --> 00:24:44.319
And that and I love your title.

00:24:44.400 --> 00:24:45.920
And suddenly life got busy.

00:24:46.079 --> 00:24:55.680
It sure did, I tell you, it's it got busy, but unfortunately, you went through uh the pain of losing your house with the fire and what pushed you to start the process of doing that.

00:24:55.920 --> 00:24:56.960
No, that that's awesome.

00:24:57.200 --> 00:25:01.839
And the same thing with like with me, I was I left corporate after 36 years, IBM.

00:25:02.000 --> 00:25:04.400
And I said, uh my father died, and I'm from Chicago.

00:25:04.559 --> 00:25:06.720
I went home to visit, and I got to see him before he died.

00:25:06.880 --> 00:25:08.160
Before I got home, he died.

00:25:08.319 --> 00:25:11.200
And I got into a depressing depression.

00:25:11.759 --> 00:25:18.960
And I said, okay, I gotta keep myself busy because my father had dementia, and I don't want to be in that same situation.

00:25:19.200 --> 00:25:20.640
I got to keep myself busy.

00:25:20.799 --> 00:25:23.759
And boy, I've been keeping my husband said, Can I get on your calendar?

00:25:23.920 --> 00:25:24.880
Because now I'm busy.

00:25:25.839 --> 00:25:27.680
But no, I am very proud of what you're doing here.

00:25:27.759 --> 00:25:28.480
So, what's next for you?

00:25:28.559 --> 00:25:32.799
What do you see future opportunities for collaboration in your upcoming projects?

00:25:33.359 --> 00:25:40.160
Okay, I want to continue the collaboration at the college and to add more colleges.

00:25:40.319 --> 00:25:49.119
Next, I also want to develop a 90-day reset journal because sometimes you just need that 90-day push to get everything going.

00:25:49.279 --> 00:25:57.039
And I want to create a journal that's more catered to the younger audience, maybe teenagers.

00:25:57.680 --> 00:26:05.519
Because during those teenage years, they have a lot of feelings and emotions, and they just need to express themselves.

00:26:05.680 --> 00:26:08.640
I do want to create something for my teenagers.

00:26:09.039 --> 00:26:11.440
I love it because you remember they have their little diaries.

00:26:11.519 --> 00:26:13.839
Because I gave them, I have four granddaughters.

00:26:14.319 --> 00:26:16.480
If they get mad, somebody go in their diary.

00:26:16.640 --> 00:26:17.279
But I love it.

00:26:17.359 --> 00:26:18.880
But that's actually what they're doing.

00:26:19.039 --> 00:26:21.519
They're journeying based on what happened that day to them.

00:26:21.680 --> 00:26:23.039
Yes, what you're doing is great.

00:26:23.119 --> 00:26:25.519
And it's not just for college students, it's for every student.

00:26:25.680 --> 00:26:34.079
Everybody, yes, yeah, because we wouldn't we probably wouldn't have so many therapy sessions if we had if people were able to write down what they have here.

00:26:34.240 --> 00:26:39.599
So I am very proud and I'm happy that you came on the show as far as it shared your passion.

00:26:39.839 --> 00:26:41.279
Suddenly life got busy.

00:26:41.359 --> 00:26:41.839
I love it.

00:26:41.920 --> 00:26:42.319
I love it.

00:26:42.480 --> 00:26:44.720
