Great storytelling
Very good podcast
Ugh!
Gut wrenching!!! We have the most f-ed up criminal justice system. The frustration I felt when listening to to season 1 was beyond unfair. I’m just starting season 2 and if it’s as stunningly produced, super-bingeable, and so incredibly heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time, then I’m in for a treat!!!
💔
S2- Ugh! It’s beautiful and heartbreaking and conflicting all at the same time. He brutally murdered many people and disregarded their lives. He didn’t care if they got a true burial and grave and yet wants someone to bury him respectfully. It’s such a confusing and conflicting situation but one that shows forgiveness and grace, compassion and love. He should be beyond thankful and proud of his son! S1- It’s heartbreaking to know innocent men and women are in prison and with such negligence and pure disregard for human life by the men and women who are sworn in to protect and serve. The land of the free… Leo is such a strong man and deserves all the happiness in the world.
Excellent but…
Gilbert is a great storyteller and I’m glad he took on the challenge to help Leo and to make this podcast but, his hard-on for “the state of Florida” and his bias against law enforcement can be cringe at times. I guess it’s just typical agenda spouting which most of these podcasts are but someone should have edited dome of it out. Otherwise I thought it was excellent and would definitely recommend it.
What Podcasts Strive to Be
If you are a fan of the work of Susan Simpson, Maggie Freleng, or Rabia Chaudry, you will love this podcast. The writing is phenomenal, the research is impeccable. Your heart will be ripped out over and over as you realize the depths of injustice that our system imparts upon people. Kelsey, Gilbert, you did such an amazing job.
THIS is how to do a top-notch true crime podcast
Excellent storytelling with music that also enhances - not overwhelmes - the piece. Exhaustive reporting, great host.
Heartfelt and emotional
One of the most touching podcasts that I've listened to. Leo is one of the cases that made me take a look at our justice system and after nearly learning a similar fate due to lies and corruption I decided to return to school and study law. If not for our local law school and their support and dedication I wouldn't be where I am today. I intend to represent those who cannot afford proper representation and fight for the wrongly convicted. If you need ideas for another season I highly recommend looking into Keith Zon Doolin’s case as that is the other case that still today gives me nightmares and makes me question if teaching our children to be helpful and good Samaritans is a good thing or not. It made me question what I should tell my sons to do if they see a woman or women possibly in danger and what the right advice is to give. I know they say innocent people shouldn't worry but in fact, innocent people should essentially be more concerned about injustices. Circumstantial evidence is all in the way that one perceives it and that can be a tricky and dangerous game to play. Sadly states all too often disagree to admit that they made a mistake or to correct it. The same thing happened with Keith, while another heinous murder led to not 1 but 2 suicides related evidence including a detailed confession is sealed and Governor Newsom refuses to allow for the truth. Keith is on Death Row and I fear that California will never right this wrong and sickening injustice. Keep up the amazing work that you're doing!! You changed many lives with your podcast and gave us the raw and emotional aspects of what you're doing. I hope you truly know what a blessing you have been for many people and families. I look forward to hearing what is to come in future seasons.
Must Listen
One of my favorite podcasts of all time. Wonderful storytelling.
Great show, 1 nitpick
5 star show. Great show. So well done. But I do have one thing to nitpick- can we knock it off with the true crime podcast buffer music? And we def don’t need a full min of it at the start of every episode. Stop trying to manipulate emotions and just deliver the story. Okay, rant over. Again, great show!
Well done! So worth it.
Such a riveting, heartbreaking, well done podcast. Excellent work!
Wow!
That was an amazing story!
Moving beyond words
Beautiful beautiful beautiful. Gives me faith in humanity when I feel like I’m loosing it easily. Thank you Gilbert and Team!
WOW!!! Just WOW!!
This just blows my mind!! I’ve shed tears over this!! Awesome job! I listened based on the recommend by The Prosecutors. I’m so glad I did. And I signed the petition. I believe Leo is innocent. And I believe Jeremy is telling the truth and that he is remorseful. Oh my! am now in Season 2 and find myself in tears again!!
Moved beyond words...
I listen to a lot of different podcasts and stumbled across this one via one of my regulars. Leo's story was captivating - particularly the transformation from a "not so great guy" to a humble and inspiring leader who patiently endured his wrongful imprisonment with such grace. Similarly, in season 2, Jeremy's transformation from apparent monster to a damaged man striving to make amends was equally moving. When I say I'm captivated and moved, I mean that both stories changed the way I think about imprisoned people. I tend to favor the prosecutorial point of view and have little empathy for bad guys who do bad things. Bone Valley humanized Jeremy and Leo and left me feeling highly sympathetic towards both men. I was convinced of Leo's innocence and I tend to think there must be a better place for Jeremy other than prison. Listening to Jeremy and Jason build their relationship through letter writing was so touching. Jason is an exceptional young man. ❤️❤️❤️ Bone Valley.
Great storytelling
Justin sounds like an amazing person. It sounds like he has overcome a lot in his life and still finds ways to ne compassionate and show empathy.
Wow
Oh my goodness. I found myself moved to tears so many times while listening to the last episode of season 2. Way to knock it out of the park.
More than 5 stars and now what can be done?
MOST POWERFUL EPISODE OF ANY PODCAST I HAVE EVER HEARD. Update: Jake. I have NEVER heard anything more real, compelling, and demanding of attention. Thank you Gilbert. This story changed me. Thank you for Telling this story…. What can we do? WHAT CAN WE DO?
Heartfelt & told with compassion
Many thanks to Gilbert King, Kelsey Decker and all of the members of the team who put together this amazing Podcast. At this story’s core is the power of forgiveness, which is the way forward for anyone who has experienced trauma in life. Thanks again for exposing an astonishing , unforgettable set of events. Don’t miss listening to it.
fantastic
This one is going in my favorite podcasts of all time.
The first first
The only first time time thing is I is a going out to to get get a some thing food for the family family dinner dinner for for the
Complicated
This is a complicated story. It’s so heartbreaking to listen to Jeremy talk about the struggles he had throughout his life and the hopelessness knowing he will spend his life in prison. At the same time, he didn’t just murder one person in a fit of rage or stupidity. He murdered four people and it’s hard not to think, he’s exactly where he needs to be. Those four people deserve justice.
John Aguero
Domestic abuser, arrogant prosecutor operating outside the law. May he rest with no peace whatsoever.
Surprising
I listened to Season 1, and had no desire to listen to Season 2. I listened to The Prosecutors also, and they urged everyone to listen to Bone Valley with season 3 coming up. I typically agree with them, so I did it. It is one of the most powerful stories of forgiveness and faith. I loved every minute of it. All I can say is WOW!
