Refined Not Ruined: Healing After Domestic Violence and Rebuilding Your Life
After my powerful conversation with Paquita Reddish, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what it truly means to be refined—not ruined—by life’s hardest seasons.
In this coaching-style bonus episode, I talk about why healing and building don’t happen in separate chapters. They grow together. You don’t have to wait until you feel “fully healed” to start rebuilding your life, your confidence, or your purpose.
We explore:
- Why fear often shows up right before transformation
- The difference between reacting and responding
- How to recognize your growth in real time
- Why survival is not the finish line—it’s the starting point
If you’re in the fire right now—navigating divorce, healing from emotional abuse, rebuilding your confidence, or stepping into something new—this episode is for you.
You are not broken.
You are becoming.

✨ Remember: divorce may bend you, but it does not break you. You are stronger than you think, and your bold new chapter starts now. ✨
Welcome to another episode of Bent Not Broken. Heartbreak and trauma may feel like the end of your story, but here it's the beginning of a bold new chapter. I'm your host, Coach Deborah Griffiths, and this is the space where women rise, rebuild, and rediscover their purpose. Remember this truth. You are Bent Not Broken. Welcome back to Bent Not Broken. If you're still sitting with Paquita's story, you're not alone because this conversation lingers. Listening to Paquita Reddish reminded me of something I say often, but today it hits differently. Survival is not the finish line. It's the starting point. So many women believe they have to be fully healed before they can move forward, before they can build the business, before they can use their voice, before they can step into purpose. But Pikita showed us something powerful. Healing and building don't happen in separate seasons, they grow together. She talked about fear, the fear that keeps women staying, the fear of disrupting their children's lives, the fear of the unknown. And if that resonated with you, I want you to hear this clearly. One of the moments that stayed with me was when Pakita said she learned to stay silent instead of reacting. That's healing, not perfection, discernment. The kind that says, I don't have to prove myself anymore. And maybe that's where you are right now. Not loud, not dramatic, just quietly realizing I don't handle things the way I used to. That's growth. Here's something I want you to reflect on today. If this situation had happened a year ago, how would I have responded differently? What does that tell me about how far I've come? You don't need a stage, you don't need a business plan yet, you don't need anyone's permission. Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is admit, I'm no longer surviving, I'm building. And if you're still in the fire right now, hear this, because Biquita said it best. The fire doesn't destroy you. It reveals you. It refines you. You are not broken. You are becoming. Take a breath. Take your next step. And remember, you don't walk this journey alone. Until next time, remember you are bent not broken. Thank you for listening to today's episode of Bent Not Broken. I hope that this episode reminded you that even through life's toughest moments, you are bent not broken. If this message inspired you, please share, rate, review, and subscribe, as it helps us reach more women who are ready to rise and rebuild. And until next time, keep living bold and walking in your purpose.
