Hey “GALS”!

I’m listening to Tyler Perry right now and I am loving it! I’m excited to watch some of these movies you’re talking about.
Regarding the word “GAL”. I am a pasty white woman in her 50s and I totally understand what Tyler is saying about how the slang, “Gal” is offensive, especially in the context he explained. I have never liked being called Gal because I’m not a girl, a woman, and when a man calls me Gal, I feel like he’s trying to infantilize me as a woman. (It feels the same as if he were to pat me on the head and say, calm down little lady.) I’m not even a hard-core feminist, but that word has always felt disrespectful.

Dax, I’m sure you meant nothing by it and I loved how Tyler was so kind to help you learn something new. We don’t know what we don’t know.

Keep up the good work! I love that I finally found this podcast.
